yellow triangles with ! inside

i have norton internet security installed on windows xp - why do i keep
getting a yellow triangle coming on the tool bar on the bottom right hand
side telling me i have a virus/spywear and it keeps flashing then a bubble
appears - when clicling on it it brings up a web page selling me antivirus
programs - it is driving me bonkers!!!!! can anyone help get rid of it
please?

Unfortunately Norton's doesn't do a good job at stopping malware/spyware.
