Yesterday's Updates and Outlook Express Problem

I'm running XP SP2 and installed the latest series of updates yesterday.
Since then strangely enough, every time I start OE, 4 files are placed in my
desktop Briefcase file. They are:

Folders.dbx
Offline.dbx
Inbox.dbx
Outbox.dbx

I have tried repeatedly to delete them and clear my trash. I even have tried
many times to delete the entire Briefcase folder but when I start Outlook
Express again, a new Briefcase folder is created with the same 4 files in
it.

If anyone can help me get this straightened out I would greatly appreciate
it.

Thanks!
BEK
