Yet Another IE6 Update problem

I've read numerous posts on problems installing IE6
I've got a little different error. I've tried running it with NAV disabled,
with the startup stuff disabled and now in safe mode. This error message
keeps appearing:
"Cannot make directory entry (error#52)
Setup could not finish opening a file on your desitnation disk.

Source file: 'C\WINDOWS\TEMP\IXP000.TMP\iesetup.inf'
Destination file:
'C\WINDOWS\INF\Iesetup001=C:\\WINDOWS\TEMP\IXP000. TMP\iesetup.inf'

It gives me the opportunity to try to copy the file again, which I do, but
then it installs to 65%. I cancel the installation. It hangs on ending the
installation and warns me not to reboot the machine or damage may occur. I
exit the mess with CTRL-ALT-DELETE to task manager and end the task.

thanks for any help you can give me

Hi Adirondacker,

Try the steps in the Resolution section of this MSKB article, "Computer
stops responding (hangs) during setup when you install updates or when you
add new hardware":
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=281967

Regards,
