I tried to post at the end of everything but I'm sure it didn't take.
I've been around for a while but I think many of the respondents are
like children squabbling in a sandpile. You don't know... I know
more than you.... You like linux... You hate Vista... You
love ................etc. etc. etc.
Isn't this supposed to be about solving problems?

Is there a freakin' moderator anywhere?

Unfortunately, we are humans and sometimes emotions get the best of us. The
best way to resolve some of these squabbles is to politely ignore the thread
or individual - trust me, it works.

You must be new to newsgroups. Most are like this.

Usually groups that are moderated have that word in their name.
such as

alt.oingo.boingo.moderated

the best you can do is the same we most do: block them when they are
becoming a pest

you may watch out because there are some that change their name on a regular
basis, making you update the block list (naming e.g tiberios - taibear ios,
who will probably post something unhelpful, insulting or bashing in this
thread, if he didnt already)

Most computer related groups tend to have OS Trolls and people that are
there to do nothing except cause problems. The support groups that get
the most traffic have more than other groups. Moderated groups have none
or very few as do groups that are not specifically setup for .general or
..support.

It's a sad fact that in todays time we can't get rid of them like we use
to in the old days (we use to cancel their posts).

If you have a real Usenet client and are reading from a Usenet server
instead of a web interface you can add the bozo's to your Ignore or Kill
File list and not see their direct posts.
