I couldn't resist. If you feel like you were mislead, now you can do
something about it.

But there are charts and articles on Microsoft's site, as well as the
upgrade advisor, that show the differences. There is nothing misleading
about it. You don't go buy a Civic and expect A/C, moonroof as in the
commercial, do you? Not on the DX model! Not misleading, just wrong
assumption.

When those Vista Capable stickers came out, people were aleady saying that
it will run Vista, just not with all the bells and whistles. My $15,000 can
buy a new Civic, like the commercial says, but it won't come with the
moonroof, CD Player, A/C, power windows like they show and is available.

Not everyone feels, as you do, or there would not be a class action
lawsuit. You can read the entire complaint at

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/dayart...apablesuit.pdf

And make your own judgments (pun alert).

True, and I'm glad others don't feel like I do. I just feel that ignorance
doesn't consititute misleading. All the facts were there in black and white,
they even distributed an Upgrade Advisor with the differences listed.

I think that salespeople had a big role in this, as well. They will lie and
cheat and say "It will work with all this stuff", when it doesn't. (I know
it happens as I've seen it...).

I do understand that some people don't know a thing about computers, and
they only go by what is on TV and what the salesman tells them, and they may
have been left in the dark. But, a computer is somewhat of a major purchase,
not done on impulse. People should do a little research on them first, even
if it is Consumer Reports, or the neighbor next door.

While I believe the lawsuit to be a stretch I also think you'll need a
different comparison. The TV commercials specifically have a disclaimer
that the price shown is not for the car being displayed or they'll have a
price for the stripped model and a second "as shown" price.

Also, when you look at a car on the lot the sticker lists all features and
equipment.

What's happening with Vista is that people are buying cars with no sticker.
Shame on the customer for not asking!

OT

This happens ALL the time.

1. I got kicked out of a computer store for mentioning what a sales guy had
said was wrong. He argued, I proved it and got kicked out. The other
customers followed me and asked me more questions. Long story short, I
built them a computer. That computer store chain is no longer in business
(Computer City). It was a division of Tandy and sold to CompUSA.

2. Two weeks ago I was in Circuit City when I overheard a sales guy telling
two customers that Blu-ray was MUCH better then HD-DVD because Blu-Ray is
1080 and HD-DVD is only 720 and not real HD. Why did he say this? Because
HD-DVD players came down to $500 while Blu-ray was still at $1,000. This
time I grabbed a copy of the proof before "correcting" him and made sure he
saw it (HD-DVD Movie). I said, "excuse me you mentioned HD-DVD was only
720?" He quickly corrected himself.

Business is slow today...Thought that I would liven up the newsgroup. I
still have to go grocery shopping. Maybe, someone will financially
benefit from the information. In December, when I saw the Vista Capable
logo on computers in various stores, I presumed that the computers would
run Vista and not a substandard variation of it. This is just what I
thought. I am sure a lot of other people thought the same as I did.
Vista Capable is more than capable for any variation of linux, so all is
not lost...lol...

I think you are confusing the "sticker" with the Vista logo. If the
computers had "car stickers" then there wouldn't be a problem. Useless
"sticker" makes no sense.
