I tried to stop a startup task (quicktime). I got the following warning "an
access denied error was returned while attmpeting to change a service. you
may need to log on using an administrator account to make the specifidied
changes"

I am loged on as an administrator

Not really related to Media Center (the focus of this newsgroup), this
question would be better posted in a general group for whatever OS you have.

However are you in a domain environment/corporate network?

Network policies might be in effect.
