Not sure what you're trying to say, since there is no information visible in
your post. But I'm having a problem getting updates, too. I click on "scan
for updates". It says it is checking for possible updates, 0% complete. And
that's all that ever happens, no matter how long I stay on that screen.
"Done" appears down in the lower left corner of the screen, my firewall
indicates there is no accessing of the microsoft website, i.e., no scanning
actually being done. But I can go to another link on the microsoft site
(such as this one), and things work fine. So, I don't know if this is what is
happening to you or not. And I don't have any answers or solutions for you.
But I thought if I described my problem, it would be a start. We can compare
notes and maybe someone can come up with something.

There is no information in your post, so I don't know if I understand what
you're trying to say. But I may be having the same problem. When I click on
"scan for updates" it says it is checking for updates, 0% complete. And then
that's all that ever happens, no matter how long I stay on that page. "Done"
appears in the lower left corner of the screen, and my firewall indicates
there is no accessing of the microsoft site, though you can click on other
site links (such as the one to get to this discussion group), and things work
normally. So, don't know if this is your problem, or if this helps in any
way, but maybe this will begin a thread that will lead to a solution for both
of us.

my PC is doing a very similiar thing with the updates except i get stuch on
the "checking for latest version of software..." and get stuch there with a
little "done in the corner. I have tried everything turned off popup blocker
firewall etc still nothing so I tried a different route by going to admin
options on sidebar thn clicked windows update from sidebar on that screen
which brings up a screen that allows you to click "scan for updates" so in
doing that I finally got it to scan but the updates it says I need are preety
much optional or unecessary and it won't even tell me I need any service
packs which i know i do because i just performed a "non Desructive" System
recovery which for some reason has destroyed my previous updates and so now
I'm without seriously critical updates I've even gone to the update catalog
and tried from there but i'm somewhat green with computers and with all the
options inthe catalog i may be doing something wrong--i just thought I'd
throw that out there in case you all had any thoughts of similiar issues
thank for you time.

Sorry about the "empty" post. My first use of this forum. You'll see
another posting (called "Zero post") describes my problem. In fact, today,
the problem has gone away. Looks like a temporary glitch on
update.microsoft.com.

Thanks for your suggestion anyway.

No problem. My first time, too. I eventually solved my problem by going to
Microsoft's knowledge base. Did a query. I think I typed something simple
like scanning for updates, or zero updates. Anyway, it homed in on the
problem pretty quickly, and the problem and fix was obvious. Turns out there
was a very small, free patch that needed to be downloaded and installed. Once
I did that, it now scans, downloads and works normally. Wish I could remember
the exact details, but if you try my suggestion of going to the Microsoft
knowledge base, you should be able to get there and do the download to
totally remedy your issues. Good luck!
