Hi gang,
After installing SP2, whenever I save a .zip file from the Internet, it auto
downloads to my Temporary Internet Files and I have to search for it. I
still get prompted to save .exe files, it's just the .zip files that do the
auto thing. I think I must have unchecked the permission box at some point
for .zip files.
Any suggestions on restoring the permissions box so I can designate where I
want the .zip files to be saved?
Thanks for any info.
Shanti

I don't have an installation with SP2 but try the normal method:

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

Hehe! Well, not being one with a whole lot of patience, after posting my
msg, I did a System Restore back 4 days (I guessed that's about when I
probably unchecked the 'prompt for download' box). Voila! I now get the
prompt before a .zip file downloads so I can once again choose its
destination.
Thank you for responding, Alan. I did go to File Types and found a couple
things I needed to change on other files. Would never have thought to do
that until you wrote.
Cheers!
Shanti
