The new release of ZA works fine in Vista.

The scary part is now I see all the processes that want to communicate with
someone ( my router/gateway, multicast DNS, and various outside internet
destinations)

What possible reason do Desktop Windows Manager, WinWord (not using Help at
the time), regedit, Disk Defragmenter, Audio Device Graph Isolation, Search
Indexer, Task Manager, ad nauseum have for talking to anybody?

Of course, Windows Firewall was blithely allowing all this to go on.

Who knows what this computer is saying about me behind my back, now.

Val

Disk Defragmenter and Task Manager, even? My Vista Firewall Control
hasn't ever noticed such behavior from them (nor from Desktop Windows
Manager, Regedit, Audio Device Graph Isolation or Search Indexer). If
all those things are, indeed, calling out, it should definitely be of
some concern, it seems to me . . . I guess I'm going to have to give ZA
a try now that it is said to be Vista compatible.

Hmm. I've installed ZA on my 32-bit Vista and do not see most of the
alerts you mention. Perhaps you have a seriously compromised system?
