Hello My first question :- Is anybody aware of any gotchas when it comes to running defrag on the volume that contains DFS replicated data from multiple sites. i.e Should I stop replication / stop the service / not do it ! ...... etc .. Second question :- I have followed the guidelines for setting up ABE, i.e enable it on the C:\DFSroots\target folder rather than on the target shares themself. Question is, do I enable it at both "ends", or does making the change at one end propogate the setting to all other members ? Thanks in advance --
Hello We tested a defrag of hub and branch server in a lab environment. We did the defrag while the DSFR service was running but our replication window was not "active". No replication was occurring at the time defrag was running. Made no other changes to any files. The replication window came and expired without any replication happening. As expected. Not totally sure about ABE but the security information is replicated. If (and it really should be) your replication groups are "two way" then I would guess the ABE information would get replicated to the other "end". hth DDS
