Windows XP Home, SP 2; IE 7, version 7.0.5730.11. When I open IE, I cannot
access the internet. In the tab that opens it reads, "403 Forbidden", and on
the web page it reads, "You were denied access because: Access denied by
access control list". I do have internet access since Widows Update has
downloaded and installed updates and my anti-virus software has also updated
itself. I have reset all IE settings to factory defaults. I have gone to
Start -> Set Program Access and Defaults and reset it every-which-way to make
IE the default browser and it seems to keep reseting itself to Custom -> Use
    Current Web Browser.

Did I inadvertently screw-up some setting somewhere? Since IE is the only
browser installed, I cannot get on the internet to download a different
browser to test that out, I'm STUCK. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest looking at the proxy settings in IE - the 403 on every request
suggests that you're connecting to a proxy server which is disallowing you
access, and so blocking all requests.

    Hi Dan,

I went to the proxy settings and set it to Automatic and that took care of
it. I have no idea how the settings got changed?!?!?

    Thanks for your help.
