I have a signed 64 bit Driver that works in both Vista 64 bit and Server 2008
    64 bit.
It is recognized as being signed and installs fine.

But when you go into device manager and click properties on the driver and
click on the driver tab it says who it is signed by in the Digital Signature
entry although when you click the Driver details button and it loads that
window the Digital Signature entry says it is not digitaly signed

This is signed through Authenticode with a GlobalSign certificate using
microsofts WinDDK tool specially inf2cat to make the catalog file and
signtool to sign the driver and catalog file.

What has caused this. Am i missing an entry in the .inf file i wouldn't have
though so as it s to do with the signing of the driver.
Or is this a downside to authenticode vs WHQL

    Thanks for any help

Yes. The mandatory kernel-mode signature is OK and in-place, but it is not sufficient for some UI items in the Device Manager - only WHQL signature is needed for them.

    Craig, Maxim,

thanks for asking this question and responding to it. I saw the same
thing and I never thought of WHQL.
