Accounts with email aliases

My ISP provides me with 5 email aliases. Messages sent to these addresses
are sent to the same account.

In Outlook Express, I had 5 different accounts set up which would download
the messages from these 5 aliases and would use message rules to separate
them. This would allow me to use different email addresses for replies to
messages from each of these 'accounts'.

The new Windows Live Mail will not let me set up 5 accounts in this way as
it says that the account information is the same. Therefore I am limited to
only one email address for replies.

Is there a way to use this feature in Windows Live Mail?

For the moment I am back with Outlook Express as this feature is very
important to me (plus the fact that I've already had a database corruption
and some strange behaviour from the quick view folders).

I've never had a problem with OE but I'm be keen to update.

  2. If WLM complains about the account information being the same,
then make the account information different!
Since the first or master account will download email for all five
accounts, put in different (dummy) information for the incoming server
for the other four accounts. Those will be used for sending only.
Be sure to go to the General tab of the Properties of the last four
accounts and uncheck "Include this account..."

But wouldn't the server information need to be correct? Otherwise the sent
emails wouldn't be able to send?

  4. The outgoing server information has to be correct.
The incoming server information does *not* have to be correct
as long as you disable downloading for that account.

Ah - I've just tried to create the accounts manually and it works. My
folder list is a bit of a mess (I wish you could 'hide' some accounts from
this view) but my rules are now working perfectly.

    Thanks for your input.

  6. Good to hear you have it working.
The option to hide some accounts would go a long way toward
reducing WLM's clutter. So far MS hasn't bought into it.
