People here already mentioned that the feature to have web content as
desktop background is not in x64.

But still, Windows x64's "Help and Support Center" has a reference to the
topic "Add Web content to your desktop".
(open the "Help and Support Center" and do a search for "desktop", the first
result is "Add Web content to your desktop")

Could that mean the feature is still included in x64, but somehow disabled
    by default?

Btw, I am running the Trial version of Windows XP x64 Edition, if that's of
    any importance.

  3. It's a bug in the documentation, not a hidden feature, I'm afraid.
