    Hi guys.
I am having trouble getting my new 2003 R2 server to join to an existing
2003SBS R2 server. It keeps telling me that I have to run ADPREP.exe as my ad
is not of the same version. Is this correct as they are both R2?

Is there something I am missing? lol

    Thanks

    Jason

  2. Hi

That is correct, the error message is telling you what to do. The error
tells you where to locate the adprep util and files on the win2003 cdrom.
Put the Win2003 cdrom in the SBS drive and run adprep/forestprep and
adprep/domainprep. You will then be able to dcpromo the Win2003 server into
    the SBS domain.

    Hi Costas.
I just need it to be a member server, not a DC in any way.
Do I still need to run ADPREP?

I would have thought it would be very straight forward.

Thanks for all your help Guys

    Jason,

You don't have to run adprep if you want it to be just a member in the
domain. First create a server computer account in 'Server Management' on
the SBS box. Then run the 'connectcomputer' wizard from the new server.
That's all there is to it. You, most probably, tried to add 'roles' on the
new server and that's whey you got the 'adprep' message
