Adding an existing contact from Hotmail to MSN Messenger with an @yahoo.com address

Discussion in 'Windows MSN Messenger' started by Nathan Sokalski, Mar 24, 2007.

  1. I have recently gone through my Hotmail Contacts list, and found a number of
    contacts with @yahoo.com emails that I had not yet added to MSN Messenger.
    To add them, I tried copy & pasting their @yahoo.com email addresses to the
    textbox labeled MSN Adress and checking the "Mark this contact as a
    favorite" and "Use with MSN Messenger" checkboxes. For two of my contacts
    this worked, and they showed up in my MSN Messenger, but for all the other,
    it said the address was not a valid address. Even though the addresses were
    @yahoo.com addresses rather than msn.com, hotmail.com, live.com, etc, why
    did it work for two of my contacts but not the others? I want to add the
    contacts to my MSN Messenger contacts list using this technique rather than
    directly through MSN Messenger so that I do not end up with duplicates in
    Hotmail, and so that the same info is used for both MSN Messenger and
    Hotmail. Any ideas as to what might be causing this? Thanks.
