Administrators Only Message -- Good Grief !!

Discussion in 'Windows Update' started by Michael Sawyer, Jul 26, 2004.

  1. After trying everything that Microsoft suggests to work
around the problem of getting the "Administrators Only"
message, every time I attempt to download a Windows Update
file, I'm about ready to "pack it all in."

I don't understand what has happened to my machine in that
it has locked me out?? I am the only user, always log in
as the Administrator, and I have tried all of the fixes
all to no avail. I am not even sure that I am getting any
automatic updates anymore, even though I have that
    function enabled. No Joy!

    what to do??

    Have you tried this:

    type msconfig
    choose Selective startup
    uncheck Load startup group items
Try again. It worked for me.

(go back to normal boot after this works)
