    Help!

I've been trying to insert a W2K3 server as a DC into my existing W2K
domain. Exchange is not installed. I've run adprep.exe /forestprep and
/domainprep and both completed without any error messages. The adprep logs
seem ok too. When I use the AD wizard on the W2K3 server to add it as a DC I
still get the error message saying that the schemas are not compatible.

    Any ideas?

  2. check if the schema updates have replicated to all DCs. Check the event logs
    of the DCs for errors

    Hey Jorge,

I saw your advice to someone else having the same problem and ran your
recommedation of AdFind.exe. I only got a returned result of 1!

If I try to run adprep again it says that it has already been run and
refuses to try and update the forest again. I went back and realized that I
needed to set the registry value to make the schema updateable.

Is there any way to force adprep to do it's thing all over again?

  4. download ADFIND from joeware.net
    (http://www.joeware.net/win/free/tools/adfind.htm)

put the tool on some server and run

    adfind -h <FQDN schema master> -schema -s base objectVersion
    (e.g. adfind -h schemaFSMO.domain.com -schema -s base objectVersion)

If you have performed the schema upgrade using ADPREP from R2 the result
    should be 31.

    W2K3 without R2 is 30

    W2K is 13

to see if the schema upgrade succeeded, also see: MS-KBQ309628 (this article
is for W2K3) and the logs
    "%systemroot%\system32\debug\adprep\logs\ADPrep.log"

are you running ADPREP from the CD?

version 1? that sounds like your AD forest is windows 3.0... ;-))
