Does antivirus / antispyware software on host PC prevent installation of
    viruses/spyware in the virtual PC?

For eg., if I do a complete scan of my physical hard-drive using McAfee
Antivirus - can it see a virus on the VirtualPC's hard-drive?

  2. No. Each virtual machine must have its own protection just like a separate
    pc.

And you should probably exclude VHDs from the host AV scanner to
    improve VM performance.
