Approval And Install [WILDPACKET]

Discussion in 'Update Services' started by WILDPACKET, Dec 2, 2005.

New to WSUS. I have approved few critical adn security patches for Windows
XP. They showed as INSTALL in WSUS Console btu does not seem to be pushed to
this one client only. This is my test envoirenement and I have oly one PC
for testing and a server. Do I have to do anything further after approval???

The client shows up in the WSUS Console, teh GPO is configured to isntall it
immediatly? All registery entries are correct.

    Please advise.

  2. Since there is no option to "install immediately" via GPO, let's do the

    (1) Run the command:
    REG EXPORT HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

    and post the WUPolicy.txt file

    (2) Download and run the Client Diagnostic Tool and post the results here.
The CDT is available from Client Diagnostic Tool.EXE

    (3) Perform these steps:
    a. Restart the Automatic Updates service
    b. Wait 30 minutes
    c. Post the last 30 minutes of log entries from the
    C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log file

Thank you Lawrence for you response.

The registry value is pointing to the WSUS site http://testserver (The first
2 updates were done successfully, after that its been 3 days not uddates are
    being pushed to clients)

Ran the Diag Tool already all passes w/o any failures.

    Nothing in the C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log file.

    here are my GPO settings:

    - Allow Automatic Updates immediate install
-No Auto-Restart for schdeuled Automatic Update Installation
-Specify Intranet Microsoft Update Service Location http://testserver
-Enabled Option 4-AutoDownload and Schedule the Install
    0-Every Day at 10:00.

    Please advise.
