  9. HI Boris,

    Thanks for detailed updates.

From your description, it seems you can create the NTbackup without any
problem, so let me clarify the ASR backup to you in a more detailed depth:

I suspect that this issue is caused by the some third party hard disk
utility installed on the hard disk. This error message occurs when it is
unable to use the ASR (Automated System Recovery) feature in NTBACKUP.exe.
It should be caused by the hard disk information can not be query via
Ntbackup. It should also relate to the incompatible issue between the ASR
    backup and hardware.

The Automated System Recovery (ASR) feature enables users to create a set
of floppy disks that can be used to automate the process of recovering a
failed system. Only with the ASR disk, you can restore the data. Generally,
it would not be a problem without ASR. You can manually back up and then
restore the data later. Also, you can back up these system settings to your
    tape instead of the floppy.

I am sorry for any inconvenient on this issue, you can submit this
suggestion to the product team at
    http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp. Any feedback is
    appreciated.
