Auto Update wants to install IE7 - I already have it?

I installed IE7 a few weeks ago from the Microsoft website. As with anything
new, there are a few nigles with its operation, but my main concern is that
Automatic Updates is asking me to download IE7 as an update. As far as I am
aware, I am already running IE7 and cannot understand why AU is asking me to
download it. Is AU unable to recognise if people already have IE7 installed
or is it a 'later / improved' version or maybe I need to alter AU settings??

    Any ideas guys?
    Thanks in advance...

LIkewise had the same problem and went through the whole process of
validating my windows xp licence. when it came to restart it just blue
screened on me. it happened my friend last night too. Feel quite guilty as I
have already complained to PC seller as I've had some problems, but i suspect
it is IE7. Anyone else had similar issues and resolved them?

if it really was a "few" weeks ago, then what you probably have is NOT the
final version. Auto update is probably trying to install the final version.
Go to Help-About and post your current IE7 version

  4. You are probably running the "beta" version if you installed it a few weeks ago.

Before installing the final version - read the release notes:

You're welcome and good luck. On a personal note, I have had no problems
    with IE7 at all!
