Microsoft Active Sync has been working very well connecting my Axim X51 until
recently. Now I get a message "connecting", then no progress; finally, "no
partnership established." Active Sync troubleshooter does not help. I have
also checked my firewall, it indicates that all active sync programs have
full access. I first encountered this problem on my home desktop (months
ago), but no problem at the office. Now the Axim won't connect with either
    one.

    Hi Clare,

Have you tried synchronizing after performing a soft reset? Also which
version of ActiveSync are you using?

Yes, I have tried soft reset. Active Sync 4.1 failed, so I downloaded 4.5,
    but it doesn't work either.

I use McAffee Security Center with the Personal Firewall running. The
settings indicate that all 4 of the Active Sync programs have full access to
the computer. I tried turning off the firewall, but that didn't solve my
    problem.

  6. Hi,
Are you able to see the network connection while the Axim is connected?
This can be checked by using a command line and issue the command ROUTE
    PRINT.

I've been gone for a few days. Thank you for responding, Chris.
Route Print brings up a split-second dos screen, but not enough time to
    recognize any text.
When I click on My Computer, all I see for that port is Mobile Device. It
    doesn't recognize it correctly, apparently.

  8. Open an MS-DOS window and type 'route print' there (that's what Chris meant
by "using a command line"). The window won't close until you close it by
    typing 'exit'.

Route Print I do not understand. But here is the result:

Finally I found someone with exactly the same problem!

Active Sync has been working fine for months (Axim x51v), then, suddenly,
without any configuration changes - I was not able to connect the device
anymore. Soft reset, Active Sync updates, deleting and re-establishing
    partnerships, nothing helps.

The "route print" results look exactly the same to yours. So the network
    connection seems to be established.

I also wonder if there is an installation file (.cab) for an ActiveSync
re-installation on the pocket pc. I suspect that there's something going
wrong on the pocket pc, not on the pc side.

I would greatly appreciate any help regarding this problem.

    Regards,
    Simon

Well, apparently lots of people have similar problems. I did get my solution
from Dell support internet chat. He did a remote computer deletion of my
partnerships, then reset them, and it worked like a charm in just a quick
minute. I haven't tried it on my home computer yet. But at least I'm synching
    with the office machine.
    Thanks for your message.
