    I'm at a cross-roads here.

One direction is as a Windows Server administrator. Mostly virtua
servers hosted on VMWare ESX. It entails security, cloning, SA
    storage and network configuration.

In the other direction is SharePoint 2010 administrator. This woul
entail managing the actual application and server farm. It would als
be a functional position with user and site collection administratio
and even InfoPath form/workflow development. It would not howeve
involve much .net design or codin

My own personal opinion: Does the Windows SysAdmin position offer the
chance to branch in to the VMWare itself, or narrow into SAN
configuration or Security (CASP, CISSP)? VMWare and Hyper-V
(virtualization in general) is the near-future, especially with Cloud
computing and VDI coming up in the customer base. There will always
be a demand for security folks as long as there are computers and
users, and you have to start somewhere.

OTOH, Sharepoint admins are always in demand in my work area. They
seem to be hard to find, or hard to keep (can't figure out which hehe)

    Either way, good luck!!
