Black bar on bottom with full screen DVD/Video

I have recently built a new MCE 2005 system and have stumbled onto a strange
problem. The problem is as follows: When I view any fullscreen video whether
it is a DVD or some home video recorded on my digital camcorder, there is a
black bar that appears on the bottom of the screen. This takes up just a
little less than the bottom 1/4th of the entire computer screen. I thought it
might have to do with Close Captioning but I turned that off and the bar
still is there. I am running the NVDVD software on a 6800GT and the latest
Forceware driver. I cannot seem to find what it is in MCE that is causing it.
The bar does not appear at all when I am just using WMP 10. For what it is
worth, the bar appears on Widescreen mode video too but it is out of the
viewing area so I just noticed it tonight when watching my home movies. Any
ideas what could be causing this?

This is a correction. I am running the latest Nvidia DVD Decoder, not NVDVD.

i have not seen that before, is it about the size of the taskbar? it could
be trying to draw that for some reason.
You could try setting it to autohide and see if that fixes it

What resolution are you running at and on what monitor?
What is the version number of the Forceware driver you are using, since
there appear to many different Beta versions floating around?

I am running a Forceware official beta that is on the Nvidia FTP site. It is
    version 67.66. I run in 1600x1200x32 @85hz on a Sony Trinitron Multiscan
E540. Since you brought it up, I am going to try the driver that is the
"current" official driver for MCE and see if that fixes the problem. Stay
    tuned...

I cannot believe I did not think of this earlier. It was in fact the 67.66
driver doing this. That bar would appear after 1-2 seconds of video playing
and you could tell it was like some sort of overlay. In any event I am now
running the current MCE Forceware driver that is on the Nvidia site, version
66.93 and this problem is now gone. Thanks!

The official driver 66.93 does not support pure video in case that is
important to you. I have seen reference to Purevideo beta drivers as high
as 71.40 and that was a week or so ago.
You might also want to check the Known Issues in the 67.66 release notes to
see if they are related to your problem.

Looks like I am in a catch 22 until the next official driver release. I have
the NVTV card on the way and I wonder if I will need 67.66 for it to work
correctly. I checked the release notes and did not notice anything pertaining
to open issues with MCE. I was running that 67.66 for the PureVideo support
but that black bar covering almost a quarter of my screen was just annoying.
