I just loaded Vista Home Premium and on final bootup the damned thing just
finishes bios and looks for the OS on "C" drive and stops with the message
BOOTMGR is missing. What is the problem? What is the fix?

Sell your copy of Vista on Ebay and stick with XP.

I would love to but what sort of a price does a burnt copy of the real thing
    fetch?
As for XPee, I'll be sticking to that like shit to a blanket.

So you didn't lose anything except the price of a recordable disc.

No, I didn't lose anything but I did, over the course of the day, learn how
to repair the Missing BOOTMGR thingy and now my clone of Vista works as well
as the initial install. Nothing lost and something leaned is all good.
