Blue (as opposed to grey) default desktop background color - why?

Discussion in 'Server Setup' started by Mike Richardson, Sep 18, 2003.

  1. In a clean installation of Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition from the
CD-ROM, the default desktop background color for the local Administrator and
subsequently-created accounts is blue (RGB 58 110 165), even though the
Background REG_SZ value in HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors is grey.
The equivalent value in the ntuser.dat in Default Users and in hivedef.inf
    is grey also.

Where does the blue come from?

    Thanks.

  2. Hello Mike,
I think this comes from the theme file. Default themes are stored at
\windows\resources\themes. I can edit my theme file and change the
background color. Same location in the theme file as in the registry.
    Thanks,
