burning mp3 files onto cd-rs AS mp3 files

Discussion in 'Windows Media Player' started by circe 801 [allyson], Apr 2, 2005.

  1. i've burned many cd-rs with wma, however, nearly all of the mp3 files i've
downloaded have tracks 'wrapped' [with 'albumwrap'] and are too long for my
80 min cd-rs. i have downloaded the 'unwrap' software but cannot seem to be
able to figure out how to use it [any help here??] and was thinking as well,
'if i burn them as mp3 files, i can not only fit these onto cd-r but can also
fit much more on a cd-r in mp3 format. then i can play them on a cd player
which plays mp3s as well.' i've gone to the wmp webpages and haven't found
any info on how to do this, nor whether any addidional software would be
needed. i know that wmp converts mp3 files to cd in order to burn them, but
how to burn them without converting??

    thanks in advance--

  2. Audio CDs require that sounds files are converted. if you are just
burning a Data CD (which you can do in WMP or in Explorer) then they are
just copied over. You can have any sort of file you want on a Data CD
(it's just a big floppy disc) - the only real issue is the playback
ability of the cd player you feed it to afterwards.

the disc... and how do i do it in wmp or windows explorer? i didn't see an
option in wmp nor windows explorer, nor could i find this info on the
microsoft site. i feel like kind of a dummy right about now...

  4. i didn't see an
There is a section on CD burning in the WMP help file. Don't know which
version you are using though. If using v10 then the Burn CD button at
the bottom of the screen allows you to set Audio or DAta CD.

There are also help topics for Windows (ie Start > Help) which cover the
    subject for Explorer.

  5. i am using v10, however, the 'burn' butto is at top and there is no choice
of type... AHA--in 'properties', there is a check box for 'burn playlists as
m3u [audio only]'--this may be it, i surmise?

    thanks again, mike!

  6. No tha's not it. The problem is WMP has several palces to burn CDs from.
Reading the Help topics will get you more explicit directions.
