I've got a new Dish system 322 dual tuner, using the IR TV2 with IR extender
to my new Sony Vaio. Media will change channels ok but I don't see a way to
"wake up" the 322. Dish techs say "going to sleep " to a logo screen is a
new feature. The way I am (testing now) is to program an "autotune" with the
Dish remote thru set timer menu just b4 the program I want to record comes
on.. sort of a nuisance.. Its seems to me, that windows media needs a
software update for this newer Dish rec'r ...perhaps its avail or
forthcoming? Any one have any other info on this subj?
    Thanks,

Media Center can only change the channel. It can not
turn on/off any STB. So you need to leave the STB
on all the time. Can that new sleep feature be disabled?

Hi Bob... I called Dish and they couldn't figure out a way to stop the sleep
mode.. which is new with the 322...so I am trying the "auto tune" timer
feature on the Dish.. this wakes up the rec'r and will set it to a channel
too (which isn't necessary as long as the auto tune comes on ahead of the
computer's record command).. so its an extra step.. I'll find out today if it
works.. the Dish folks said the main reason for the sleep mode is to allow
for the updates to come thru.

.. the Dish folks said the main reason for the sleep mode is to allow
Or could the main reason be that they don't want you to
use a 3rd-party DVR with their service? I'm sure they'd
prefer that you purchase/rent a DVR from them.

    Bob-
Yeah.. you have a point there !.. Well its working tho... test recording
came out fine. the "auto tune" signal is easy to program (it has a "daily,
    weekly, etc" choice.
    Many thanks for your input.
