I have just read your second filemon log, and now am researching some
    possibilites.

We may finally be at the heart of the matter. Your 2nd filemon (Sysinternals
utility) log had the following lines:

    1 5:45:37 PM iexplore.exe:3800 QUERY INFORMATION C:\Program Files\Internet
    Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE.Local\ NOT FOUND Attributes: Error
    2 5:45:38 PM guard.exe:1944 OPEN C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE SUCCESS Options: Open Access: All
    3 5:45:38 PM guard.exe:1944 QUERY INFORMATION C:\Program Files\Internet
    Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE SUCCESS Length: 93184
    4 5:45:38 PM guard.exe:1944 QUERY INFORMATION C:\Program Files\Internet
    Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE SUCCESS Length: 93184
    5 5:45:38 PM guard.exe:1944 CLOSE C:\Program Files\Internet
    Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE SUCCESS

You report that subsequent to #1 "…any attempt to access any other URL shows
    NO activity in Filemon."

In the post "Maxthon Resources for Maxthon Users", this forum, I included a
reference that mentioned the file IEXPLORE.EXE.Local, in connection to
installing multiple IE and/or Maxthon browser versions. This is a useful, but
I believe unsupported, activity that Web developers would do for testing
    purposes.

Here are two new references that may point to a solution path. I am posting
after only glancing at the material, so that others in this forum, (Robert
Aldwinckle for one), might review and provide advice. Sharon, please use your
excellent judgment before you act. After reviewing the material below, can
you recall anything relevant that you, another developer, or perhaps a unique
plug-in for Maxthon did—on both computers? Consider that the root cause of
the problem may have been planted well before it was triggered, at a later
    date.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
Uninstalling The MSN Messenger and the Fresh Download solved the problem
    like a charm.

My Work PC did have Windows Live Messenger 8.0 (Build 8.0.0792.00) and
FreshDownload version 7.56. And after removing this two - All is well.

On my home PC I have MSN Messenger Version 7.5 and FreshDownload version
7.56. I will remove them both as soon as I'm home hopping it will solve this
    also.

Thank you all for your so kind and patient help
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !!!

I have one more last question:

Now that everything is working OK, Can install the MSN Messenger and Fresh
    Download ?
Or What should I do to let them three (IE, MSN Messenger and Fresh Download)
    live together peacefully ??

Sharon - Here are my suggestions, but I believe that Daniel Arechiga and you
are now the ultimate experts on this subject.

    0. If possible, first test on another real or virtual computer.
    1. Make a System Restore checkpoint.
    2. Export favorites, cookies from both IE6 and Maxthon (feeds?).
Next step has only a tiny risk, since Daniel said he reinstalled. Also I
updated from 7.5 to 8.0 today, but we three have overlapping yet different
    environments.
    3. Reinstall MSN Messenger (Windows Live Messenger 8.0).
    4. Check operation of apps that utilize the Internet
    -- IE6, Maxthon, WL Messenger 8.0, E-mail, Web mail
-- Use HTTP, HTTPs, FTP, SFTP
-- Use BHOs, Tool Bars, Browser Extensions, ActiveX Controls, Plug-ins
-- Streaming Video and Audio, BitTorrent
-- Sites that use Sun J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE)
-- Access e-mail, Web mail, Instant Messaging (IM)
-- On-line banking, Corporate VPN access, Remote Control
-- MS Office apps, Adobe apps, etc.
    5. Perform updates from upcoming MS Patch Tues on US July 11.
Important: Catch-up now if you are behind on MS updates.
    6. Make a System Restore checkpoint
    7. Consider options and alternatives regarding Fresh Download
-- I found a user review of FD in Oct 2005 where this occured and fix was
    uninstall
-- It may be an install order problem or a combination of software problem
-- Solicit recommendations from colleagues and through a NEW POST in which
you note your environment, reasons for concern and emphasize importance of
reliability and stability across IE6, Maxthon, (other browser platforms?)
    8. After install of any download manager, work without changing your system
until you are confident that the system is stable.
    9. Have a single place where you make notes about odd behavior, and examine
the Event Viewer logs every now and then.

Daniel - Sharon has confirmed that you were correct and that Fresh Download
is the problem. Do you also have Maxthon on your computer?

    Hi Guys,

I have managed to pinpoint the cause of the problem we have just resolved.

First; It have nothing to do with the MSN Messenger!
Yes, the removal of the FreshDownload solve the problem, but it was not
necessary. Reinstalling the FreshDownload solve the problem as well.
    Why?
Well; as I mentioned before, the last action I did before the "hanging"
    occur was using the Toolbarcop
    (http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Toolbarcop-Download-8846.html).
Toolbarcop Description: enables advanced users to remove the unwanted
Toolbands, Toolbar icons and Browser Helper Objects (BHOs) from Internet
Explorer. You can disable BHOs, remove them and prevent them from starting
with Windows Explorer. It also displays available details for any installed
Toolbars, Context Menu Extensions and Toolbar buttons and allows you to
remove them. You should only use this tool if you know what you are doing,
there is no Undo and no documentation.

So when I used it, I think I did something with the FreshDownload toolbar
for the IE, and it wasn't fully removed or wasn't removed correctly, thus the
    problem !
To fix that, all there is to do is to reinstall the FreshDownload that fixes
its toolbar for IE, and voila, it's working.
Yes, I tried it at home.
