Can see video but cannot hear audio

Discussion in 'Windows Media Player' started by Mat Singleton, Aug 16, 2005.

  1. I have installed Windows Media Player 10 Version, running a
Intel Celeron M 1.3GHz with 1GB RAM on Windows XP.

I am trying to play a *.avi file that I downloaded off of the web, however I
can see the video but cannot hear any audio. I have checked that mute is not
on, that the speakers are up as loud as possible and that the volume control
is also set to the loudest possible setting, despite all of this I cannot
    hear any audio.

I have tried installing all of the latest patches etc. but I still cannot
hear any audio. Hopefully somebody might be able to help?

Make sure that the volume control WITHIN the media player is turned up. You
can have the volume turned up on your computer and sounds coming out fine for
all other apps, but if the volume is turned down or off in the media player
    it overrides it.

  3. Thanks very much for your reply, I probably should have been a bit more
concise as to the relevant details. I can confirm that the volume in Windows
Media Player, along with the audio settings of Windows XP have all been
increased to maximum volume and the mute is off.

I just cannot seem to get around this problem for some reason or another?
