can send email but not seem to rcieve

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Mail' started by matt, May 10, 2007.

  1. After weeks of struggling with my new Outlook and Vista systems, I finally
logged on to this discussion group today. I've tried to read all of the
emails to get the answer to Matt's question below, but I seemed to have
missed it. So, please excuse me from repeating a question that has already
been asked, but here it is. Several people are sending me emails that I am
not receiving on my new system. Interestingly enough, I receive several spam
emails, but some individual emails from friends are not getting through.
What the heck is going on? Does anyone know how I can correct this? I saw
something in this discussion about creating a new user name and keeping the
same account, but I just can't figure out how that would help. Thanks much.

  2. Did you try my last suggestion to Matt (try a different email program)?
I say this only to prove to yourself that the problem lies not in
    Vista's Windows Mail.

Email is a 'best effort' protocol, there is no guarantee that it
always will go through. That said, did the friends who
unsuccessfully tried to send to you get a bounce or non-delivery
notice? If you send an email to yourself, does it arrive?
