Can Win2k3 domain join Win2k forest ?

We have an existing Win2k domain and want to create another Win2k3 domain
that we will eventually migrate to.
In the meantime I would like transitive trusts between the two, so can I
join our new Win2k3 domain to our existing Win2k forest?

    Thanks

  2. If you are looking to migrate and decommission the 2000 domain, then you
can't do this, as the 2000 domain is the forest root. You're probably
better off doing an in-place upgrade to 2003.

  3. you have several options....

    1) create a parallel w2k3 forest and migrate everything from w2k to w2k3

    2) upgrade the current w2k domain to w2k3 (run forestprep and domainprep...
    introduce w2k3 dc2 and remove w2k dcs)

    3) upgrade the current w2k domain to w2k3 (run forestprep and domainprep...
do an OS upgrade from w2k to w2k3)

introducing a w2k3 domain in a w2k forest is possible, but you still need to
run forestprep first in the forest root domain. The w2k3 domain can be
introduced as a child domain or a new tree root. However you cannot remove
the w2k domain as it is the forest root domain.
