Cannot exclude folders with SBS Backup

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Word problems, Mar 18, 2007.

  1. Hello all,

    I am running a Windows 2003 SBS R2 with to partitions (C and D). When I go
through SBS Backup Wizard I get to screen asking if I want to exclude any
folders. I am able to exclude folders on the C partition but I cannot exclude
ANY folder on the D partition. When I attempt to I get the following error:

"The selected folder is required by the system when restoring your server,
or is a subfolder of a folder that is required by the system. You cannot
    exclude a required folder."

The folder I am attempting to exclude is D:\wsus or D:\temp

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  2. Find & open the small business bks file, using NTBackup - and modify it as
you wish. It's in \program files\small business server or something (can't
    check right now).

  3. Lan is talking about File

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\BackupSmall
    Business Backup Script.bks

Open in Notepad and you can see it.
