Cannot have more than one window open at the same time

Discussion in 'Internet Explorer' started by Chris Trueman, Mar 13, 2006.

  1. Something strange has happened to my installation of IE. Whenever I try to
launch a second instance of the program or simply use File>New Window the
current instance/window is closed first then the new instance/new window is
    opened.

I've tried to reinstall, but of course I have an up-to-date copy so the
installation just halts the first chance it gets.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Chris.

  2. If you have Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall,
Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps,
uninstall the program (especially uninstall Yahoo Companion).

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
    a new window.

If you're *sure* that another program isn't causing this, these links may
    help.
