I had to drop back to IE6 because EI7 apparently interferes with some Movie
Maker module. When I re-downloaded and tried to install beta3 again, it told
me it couldn't be installed and to check the troubleshooting icon. The
following comes from the log. These specified key(s) do not exist:

I followed the troubleshooter page which didn't work. Like you I had
uninstalled IE7 Beta 2. In the end I got IE7 beta 3 to install in safe mode
    (F8 at startup)

I had installed Beta2 then uninstalled it per Beta3 instructions. Then
installed Beta3. Everything seemed fine except Movie Maker 2.1.4026.0 would
not work with Beta2 or 3. I needed Movire Maker so I uninstalled Beta3 and
did my work with Movie Maker. I downloaded Beta3 again and was re-installing
to notify MS of the problem with Movie Maker when this occurred. IE6 and
    Movie Maker still work fine.
