I am using Media Player 11.0.5721.5230. I am running XP Pro SP2. After
ripping a CD, I cannot see the album files in the library. When I go to
Windows Explorer I can see the files there. I can play the files from Windows
Explorer also. I have tried to update with no success. I have also noticed
that in Windows Exployer, the the Icon associated with the music (such as an
album cover) is not showing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Have you changed the Rip folder which is where WMP places the CD ?

It's possible to set up a Rip folder in one place, but there's a
separate Monitor Folders dialog which may mean that it's not been told
to look there to add the files to the library

Under the Rip tab is a small dropdown menu, click More Options and
inspect where it's ripping to (that should be where you can see the
files in windows explorer). Then under the Library tab, choose Monitor
Folders.... and click Advanced - make sure the folder you're ripping
to is monitored for new media being added to it.
