I tried this to uninstall beta 2, but got an error "...please uninstall from
the same user account used for installation". I'm using the same account, of
    course, so I'm stuck again...

    c:\windows\$NtUninstallie7bet2$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

I have had the same problem. I can't get rid of IE 7 now. Resorted to
installing Opera, quite like it actually!!

If System Restore can't rescue you, reinstall Windows.

This is what I'm going to try next, but if you want to try it before me,
    please do:

-Initiate a Virtual PC environment with Win XP SP2 and all updates.
    -Install B1.
-Copy Uninstall folder from virtual Win XP into real Win XP.
-Create restore point in real Win XP.
-Try uninstalling B1 from real Win XP and see how that goes.
    -Install B2.

    Hope this works!

I won't get to do that for a while. I don't have my systems disk with me on
my business trip. Also, I'm not too familiar with installing Virtual PC
environments. I wish I was though. Sounds hopeful.

I really want to use that beta 2 client. Unlike some, I have had some
really great success with beta 1. If I didn't, I wouldn't have kept it for
so long. It's still working flawlessly for me and I just want to upgrade it.

Please keep me posted as I'm interested in seeing how that goes for you.

Found a way how to install B2 over B1. I could not uninstall B1.
But, I noticed that Install B2 checks version of iexplorer.exe. So, using
Reshack, changed it to 6.50 (also in dllcache). And after I could install B2
    over b1.

    regards,
    TCM

Thanks for the tip. I had another computer still at IE v6 - I copied
IEXPLORER.EXE over the IE7 beta 1 file and IE7 beta 2 install successfully
    installed.

  10. Hello,
same problem again with IE7.0 Beta3,
is there realy no hope, when "uninstall" is not in the software settings,
the unstall folder was deleted and no restore point is available to install
    Beta 3 over Beta 2 ?

(Except install another browser or reinstall the system or fiddle arround in
the versionsnumbers (I doesn't test the last tip) )

  13. Ok, forget it,
i have do what TCM wrote earlier with visual studio:
-open tje file C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\iexplore.exe with visual studio
-set all versionsnumbers to 6,50 / 6.50 and save
    -rename/remove the file iexplore.exe from C:\Programme\Internet Explorer,m
file will replced with the modified version from dllcache
    -start IE7BETA3-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe

I guess this will work with resource hacker or other programs too.

thanks to a posting in this forum by DJ van Wyk, I solved it.

All you really need to do is copy the c:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\iexplore.exe file from a PC that still has IE6 installed to the PC
you are trying to update. Run the IE7B3 installation again and voila!! it
    works.

That simple. Really makes you wonder why would Microsoft do it as difficult
    as they did?

  15. And you have all new features? And all are working well?
I don't beleive they did not change some dll's or added/remove something in
    the registries...
