Another question. I am trying to add an Exchange account to see what
settings it requires and when I do, I get the following popup message: "You
cannot add a Microsoft Exchange account to this profile while Outlook is
running. Please exit Outlook and use the Mail Icon in the Control Panel to
    add a Microsoft Exchange account."
I tried what it suggested, even rebooted without relaunching outlook and no
    luck. Any ideas?

  2. Create a new profile in control panel | mail - add the Exchange server, and
a valid mailbox - what exactly happens when you try? If Outlook is actually
running in the background at the time, you can stop it in task

  3. Is ActiveSync running on that PC? If so, that's what's doing this. In Task
Manager, does the Processes tab show any instances of outlook.exe?

Yes, activesync is running on the PC. I will check for instances of
    outlook.exe and try again.

    Dave and Lanwench,

I have it fixed now with Dave's suggestion. Even though I had gotten out of
Outlook, the outlook.exe file was still active in task manager. When I
killed that process, it allows me to continue on. Thanks for all your help!

  6. Most welcome - glad it worked. There are a lot of things that can keep
    outlook.exe running in the background.
