I am running Microsoft windows mail 2006 on Windows Vista. Someone sends me
an appointment request via email and I cannot import the file into Windows
Calendar. They are sending from a Lotus system, but the file attachment
shows as an ics file. I have tried opening it directly from the email and
saving it to the hard drive and importing from there. The error is "Make
sure this is a valid iClaendar file and try again. Bad file formatting
encountered. Only iCalendar files that conform to the RFC2445 specification
    are supported.

I can export files to the Lotus user and he can import them to his calendar,
but I can't import his files. Any suggestions.
