I have Vista on a notebook and I want to connect to the HP printer on my
XP Pro workstation. When I try to install the network printer I keep
getting a message that the local spooler is down. What am I doing wrong
and how can I install the printer?

Something I've noticed on a similar setup I've got going over here. If
you open a connection to your machine from your Vista box, and
right-click the printer, and then click connect, you should be able to
refresh the connection. Sometimes just opening up the printer remotely
does the job. It seems to be a necessary work around between vista and
xp if the xp box hasn't had a print job in a long time. Can't figure
    out why.

    Hope that helps.
