Can anybody tell me why I had to manually add my login to the "allow user to
logon through terminal services" property on an XP workstation before I
could use RDP to connect to it from elsewhere (in this case, from a server)?
I'm a member of the domain admins group - shouldn't this be automatic?
Without setting the property, I get "The local policy of this system does
not allow you to logon interactively".

  3. You should not need to add admins, as you say, but you do have to check the
box to allow remote access. Remote access is off by default, as I learned
the hard way when my XP desktop computer recently began imitating a boat

Workstation was originally upgraded from Win2K (as part of the domain). At
some time, though, it was disjoined from the domain and then re-joined using
http://server/connectcomputer just to make sure the wizard did its thing.

No, if I don't manually add my name, I can't get in, even with remote access
allowed. That's not what I'm expecting based on previous experience, which
is why I posted the query.
