Can't reboot Win NT vPC with Lotus Notes running.

Discussion in 'Virtual PC' started by Richard Powell, Jan 22, 2004.

  1. Whenver I attempt to reboot or shut down my NT virtual
PC, it freezes at the NT splash screen until I close
Lotus Notes. The virtual PC then continues as normal.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Do you think this is a virtual PC problem? It sounds like software
conflicts between notes and windows at first guess.

Do you think this is a virtual PC problem? It sounds like software
That's not a normal Notes client problem. (at least with the versions I've
    tested.)

Well what I know about Notes can be written on a matchbox, in crayon, with
room left over for a couple of Shakespeare's plays.

But I've seen odd things like this with software conflicts in general.

I tend to agree, and just because I haven't seen it doesn't mean it hasn't
    happened of course!

Anyway, I tested his scenario with Notes client 5.10 and it didn't have that
    problem.

That seems to look the the problems that I have had with "webdrive". I have
also seen this problem with Internet Explorer (rarely). It could be related
to use of the ftp protocol on the host; before I thought it had to do with
changing disk letters while running VPC.

  7. I should have added that this is VPC 2004, and Release
    5.0.11 of the Notes client.

I thought this might be an application conflict. I'm not
changing disk letters on which the two applications
depent, although I do map network drives quite often.

AAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA!! This would be a problem with Notes R5!!

I have developed MSI based installations for this version
of Notes, only to find that it breaks Group Policy
messages if applications are being installed onto the
Windows 2000 systems we were using in testing. Notes R5
replaced the NWGINA.dll file, which housed the
logon/logoff screens and information. I bet this is
another issue with that R5 Crap client. I worked FT for
IBM, and tried interfacing with the developers at Lotus,
and they STILL said that R5 didnt break any functionality
    when it clearly did.
