Hi We have installed small business server 2003 recently. We have an
internal network that we use and all of our aliases are telus.net. We are
able to receive emails from all so far, but we cannot send out email to
telus.net addresses. The exchange server seems to think it is the telus.net
address or something and won't let these emails out.

    HELP!

  3. Hi Shery,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.

Please let me know the following to make the situation more clearly:

    1. What's your FQDN? Is telus.net registered by other company?
    2. Do the internal users has e-mail address and
    ?

If your internal domain name is telus.net and you need to send out e-mail
to external telus.net, we can change the recipient policy to get the aim.

Step 1: Please change recipient policy.

    1. Start Exchange System Manager, click Recipient Policies, right-click
Default Policy, and then click Properties.
    2. In the Default Policy Properties dialog box, click E-mail addresses
    (Policy).
    3. Click @telus.net and click Edit.
    4. Uncheck the "This Exchange Organization is responsible for all mail
delivery to this address" and click OK.

Note: If this option is grayed out, please first set @telus.local as
Primary e-mail address. After you select the option, set @telus.net as
    Primary e-mail address again.

    5. Update the RUS services.

Step 2: Configure the SMTP setting:

    1. Open Exchange Server Manager (ESM).
    2. Go to Servers/Servername/Protocols/SMTP/Default SMTP Virtual Server.
    3. Right click Default SMTP Virtual Server and click Properties.
    4. Click Message tab.
    5. Key in the following info in "Forward all mail with unresolved
    recipients to host" box:

    Mail. telus.net

where Mail. telus.net is the FQDN of telus's mail server

    6) Click OK and restart SMTP Virtual Server.

When you send an e-mail to , if the user has mailbox on SBS,
the e-mail will go to his mailbox without effect. If the
doesn't exists in local domain, the e-mail will be forward to external mail
    server: mail. telus.net.

    Hope this helps.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

    Best regards,

    Robert Li(MSFT)

Thanks for your replies. We figured it out shortly after I sent in the
question, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Yes the exchange server
thought it was the recipient of the outgoing telus.net mail. It's fixed.
    Thanks
