Can't send using 'send & receive' but will...

  1. AVG can cause problems if it was installed using the default install option.
Uninstall it, then test Windows Mail again to confirm that the problem is gone.
Then reinstall AVG using the custom install option, which allows
you to forego installation of the mail scanning module.

Some instructions for setting up access to email servers assume that if
the correct setting of some option is the default setting for new email
accounts under Windows Mail, they don't have to mention what the
    setting should be.

See if this leads you to any useful instructions:

Also, many problems reported as unknown errors are due to interference
from antivirus programs. What if any antivirus and antispyware programs
    do you have?

The Google Toolbar program also causes problems in Windows Mail.
If you have it installed, uninstall it.

  3. I responded about 5 hours ago in your other thread "Cannot receive email".
Please, only one thread per issue. Multiple threads on the same issue are
confusing, and they use up more of the limited responder resources.
