Can't Switch Outlook Express Identities After Installing IE7

    Sorry, PA Bear, I tried and cannot start a new thread, I can only respond to
    ones already posted. When I try, I get the sound like a pop-up blocker
    activating and no new message window appears. Any suggestions? Thank you,

    1. Tools>Options>Security>Download images... (uncheck)

    and/or

    Tools>Options>Read>Read all messages in plain text (uncheck)

    2. Disable scanning of incoming/outgoing email by your anti-virus
    application (Guess: AVG Free). It provides no additional protection, it may
    be causing the problems, and even Symantec says it's not necessary:

    3. The above notwithstanding, one or more of your current identities may be
    damaged, especially if one is the default Main Identity. Try one or more of
    your accounts in a new Named Identity (File > Identities > Add new
    identity). Assuming all is well, (1) compact all folders in the old
    identity, (2) import messages from the old identity into the new one, and
    then (3) delete the old one (File > Identities > Manage Identities).

    To avoid such corruption in future:

    - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
    folders created for this purpose.

    - Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

    - Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently
    perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at

    - WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
    automatically compacting your message store.

    - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
    corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

  4. Disable the popup blocker? (Or at least allow the communities site
    to use popups.)
