Using the Computer Management Snap in with MMC, When I connect to another
computer I am unable to view the Event Logs. I receive error Network Path Not
Found. Also when looking at System Information System Summary I get a WMI
error. I am a domain admin so it is not a permissions issue. Any help would
    be greatly appreciated

    Hi Brian,

Are you able to connect via the MMC using the IP of the machine?
What is the operating system of the computer you are trying to connect to?
Does this issue occur with this computer in particular?

I am able to connect to the computer and look at services, users, groups and
most of the information, just not the event viewer I get error Network Path
not found. I am only having this problem when trying to look at the event
    logs on Windows2003 Server machines

Are you able to view the event logs from the 2003 servers themselves? If
not perhaps the log path is incorrect ..;en-us;175386 .
Have you checked out the file level securtity rights of the event logs at
%SystemRoot%\System32\Config folder? -should be Domain Admins or

First off, Thanks for your assistance. If I am logged on locally to any of
the servers I am having this problem with, I am able to view the event logs,
I also verified the path is correct (%SystemRoot%\System32\Config). I also
went into the effective permissions tab in advanced security settings and my
    ID has full control.
I can view event logs on ALL 2000 servers so I have isolated it to only 2003
servers. Is there something different with the way remote computer management
is handled in 2003 than in 2000? Does it use different ports? I am thinking
it is some kind of security policy or possibly firewall blocking a port so
that is why I am wondering why I can view 2000 servers and not 2003

That is very similar to my issue but I can get into Disk Management from this
    just not the event viewer.
Thanks for your help, Hopefully someone has seen this and can help

    Hey Brian,

Just had an idea! Check to see that your account, or any group you are a
part of, is not a member of the Guests group on the 2003 servers.

Found that the issue was with the remote registry service being disabled on
some servers. Pretty weird how it only affects Event Viewer. Thanks for your
