Change Permission to Read and Execute creates temp files

    Hello,

I have a folder on my server called Registration. There is a group
permission called Sale for sale people. We bumped the permission level down
for this group from Modify to Read and Execute. This was because the reps
were copying and pasting this file everywhere and we had multiple versions of
it. We don't want them to be able to save it as another file so we thought
read and execute was the right level. The problem is that windows is creating
these temp files. They have a name such as 3EE00B00 and 5EDC0710. They do
not have an excel logo to them and their file type is simply file. However,
when you click on them, it is the main excel file. It looks like windows is
creating an audit trail or a different version of the same file with each
different change being recorded. There are now about a dozen of these and
the numbers are growing. Is there a way to turn this off so it does not
create these but still keep the Read and Execute permission level.

    Thanks,
