change the download default location in IE v8 in a XP Pro environm

Discussion in 'Internet Explorer' started by stumped-in-excel, Oct 5, 2009.

  1. I need to reset the (global) default location for all downloads using IE-8.
I'd like this to be done without downloading other add-on software
(powertoys) - or manually selecting each application and designating the
    location of extensions individually.

Isn't there a simple feature similar to Word or Excel where a location can
be set as the default for all files downloaded thru IE?

This is hour 2 trying to find the answer on MS site and I'm just a little
    frustrated - Sorry!

You'll find many hits with solutions.

    Just enter the path here:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]
    "Download Directory"="C:\\Folder"

To specify the default location where downloaded files from Interne
