Child-domain GPO links accross WAN

We have four AD domains for four sites. The headquarters is the forest
root and our other offices are child domains. I want to apply the same
GPOs to various OUs in all domains. If I link a parent-domain GPO to a
child-domain OU, is it replicated to the remote site or does it read the
GPO accross the WAN every time it's needed? If it is read accross the
WAN, will it noticeably affect login speed?

I would prefer to use cross-domain links instead of trying to maintain 4
sets of GPOs. Change management would be a pain.

    Thanks,

  2. That is something that MS doesnot "recommend". You should create 4 GPO's in
each domain in each site for your topology.

For management try Group Policy Management Console....
